Closure of SIA Licence Applications from 23 June - 5 July 2016

The SIA will introduce their new licensing system on Wednesday 6 July 2016. No licence applications and renewals will be accepted from midnight Thursday 23 June until midnight on Tuesday 5 July.

What does this mean for licence applicants?

  • If you have started an application or renewal but not yet submitted it - we recommend that you complete your application before midnight on Thursday 23 June.
  • If you have already submitted your application or renewal and it has reached the 'Checks in progress' stage - you will not be affected and your application will be processed as normal.
  • If you submit an application or renewal before midnight on Thursday 23 June but your payment fails - your application will fail and you will have to re-apply using their new system when it becomes available on 6 July.
  • If you submit an application but do not provide all of the necessary supporting documentation - your application will fail and you will have to re-apply using the new system when it becomes available on 6 July.
  • If you submit an application within the switch over period - it will be returned to you and you will have to re-apply using new systems when they become available on 6th July.
  • You will have until 23 June to deliver paper licence applications to SIA's Liverpool office, or they will not be processed.
  • After the change, licence applications and renewals have to be made online and are only available on paper in exceptional circumstances.

What does this mean for IQ centres delivering SIA licence linked qualifications?

  • For all certificate claims and achievements processed after 23 June, learners are required to have an SIA online account or IQ will not be able to upload qualification achievements successfully.
  • To ensure that this is facilitated, we ask all IQ centres to inform potential licence applicants to create an SIA online account as part of their course. The following links from the SIA introduces you to how to register for an SIA online account:
  • Please note that you will not be able to complete the licence application process until such time the achievements are uploaded.
