IQ and CPL Training link up for food safety

Industry Qualifications and CPL Training today announce the formation of a partnership to bring together a food safety qualification and learning support materials.

Industry Qualifications and CPL Training today announce the formation of a partnership to bring together a food safety qualification and learning support materials.

With food safety scares and food poisoning outbreaks frequently reported in the media, research has shown that food businesses that put food safety high on the agenda by training staff are safeguarding both the health of their customers and the health of their businesses.  44% of restaurant diners would be willing to pay more in a restaurant with exceptional environmental credentials.*

IQ and CPL Training have collaborated in the development of the qualification, the supporting e-learning materials and handbook, ensuring that training is focussed on standards and learning that is both practical and simply applied in the workplace.

The IQ Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering has been developed to provide those who work in the catering industry with knowledge of basic food safety, to meet the legal basic food training requirements and to improve the level of food safety in the industry.  Under UK legislation everyone who handles food as part of their job must be provided with suitable training relevant to their work activities.

Sallyann Baldry, Head of Business Development at IQ said,

“Interlocking high quality learning materials with an accredited standard is key to raising standards of food hygiene and food safety in catering businesses. Joining forces with CPL, a leading, highly respected provider of training to the sector, has enabled us to create a seamless, cost-effective solution for catering businesses seeking to meet their legal obligations. Food handlers and food business operators have legal responsibilities and this qualification fully evidences that training has met the required standard.”

Responding Paul Chase, Director and Head of UK Compliance at CPL Training said,

“CPL Training produces high-quality learning support materials in-house. Our sector experts collaborate with an in-house design team who are able to design and create both handbooks and e-learning courses that are highly interactive and utilize the latest technology. Whether you decide to deliver training face-to-face, via e-learning online or adopt a blended learning approach, we cover all the bases. We are delighted to partner IQ in linking these learning support materials to a recognized qualification.”
