IQ Share Success

Industry Qualifications are pleased to announce the successful completion of our sixth share offering.

Awarding Organisation, Industry Qualifications (IQ), has announced the successful completion of its sixth share offering following a highly successful visit to the ASEAN region as a member of the recent All Party Trade Mission to the region. During the visit, British Cambridge Institute (BCI) concluded a deal to purchase 10% of IQ.

The mission to Singapore and Indonesia was led by Margot James MP, Chair of the All Party Group for Trade and Investment, sponsored by Barclays and Prudential, and focused on the education and infrastructure sectors. With a total of eight educational organisations from the FE and HE sectors, IQ was the sole awarding organisation.

Raymond Clarke, Chief Executive of IQ said “I am delighted to welcome BCI as a significant shareholder in IQ. In so doing, I believe that we are making a clear statement about the importance of international markets to the strategic development of IQ. In addition to the investment, the deal with BCI is also expected to boost revenues by some 20% in 2014 and underpin long term growth in ASEAN countries.

BCI operates from sixty campuses and partner centres across Asia. BCI is a significant social enterprise company in the region with ambitious plans for growth. Chief Executive Paul Hata said, “BCI is pleased to become involved in IQ and believe that the values of the company fit well with our own. We look forward to a long and rewarding relationship between our two companies.”

Commenting on the sale, Margot James MP said “The announcement of this exciting development during the mission is excellent news for IQ and indeed all of us involved with the mission. I am only too aware of the significant amount of preparatory work required to conclude these deals and I congratulate Raymond and the IQ team for this wonderful achievement. The government has set ambitious targets to increase the value of exports from SME’s in particular as part of the drive to re-balance the economy and I am pleased that on the first of this new type of mission, we are able to report such good news”.
