Profile: Sheila Mosley

Sheila began working for IQ back in September as IQ's Business Development Manager (North). Now that she's had a few months to acquaint herself with the job, we thought it might be a good idea for Sheila to tell us a little about herself and her role at IQ...

I joined IQ at the end of September and, working closely with Ray, Sallyann and the team, my mission has been to develop the brand name of Industry Qualifications across the North of England. I hope to encourage more centres to join IQ and so far have had considerable success in changing the views of centres, many of which have moved or are considering a move away from the larger, more established competitors to be part of an exciting and unique awarding organisation.

Interest has been especially strong in the independent training provider market but interest from FE Colleges, Third Sector and Local Authority based organisations such as local Councils, Manchester youth groups and a range of high profile organisations in the field of Health and Social Care is gaining momentum.

I intend to develop a new customer base for IQ, in sectors such as Health and Social Care, Functional Skills and management, in order to achieve IQ’s business objective to diversify and broaden its range of sector led qualifications and services.

My background, in working with up to 600 centres across the North West with awarding organisation ASDAN over the last 13 years, has given me the experience of working both pan-sector and pan-qualification level. This experience, combined with my work in employer engagement and contract management over the last 20 years in Training and Education, enables me to provide our customers with a rounded approach to delivery and development of their business.

Whilst working for Learndirect I had major success in delivery of an ESF project worth over £5 million in Greater Manchester. I also delivered the first Assessor and Internal Moderator awards for staff whilst working in the training department at Manchester Enterprises.

As a qualified Assessor. Internal and External Moderator I am able to empathise with training managers and their delivery team, as well as see the bigger picture from a strategic management perspective. I have also delivered training to teaching staff, head teachers, support and youth workers for over 15 years.

I am looking forward to contributing to the continued success and growth of Industry Qualifications and I am happy for any customers to contact me directly either by phone (on 07792 613 754) or via email (  Here’s to 2014! May we all have continued success and prosperity.
