About this Qualification

IMPORTANT NOTICE

THIS QUALIFICATION IS BEING EXPIRED ON THE 31/12/2016, NO REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THIS DATE. THE CERTIFICATION END DATE IS 31/03/2018

The IQ Level 2 Certificate in Polymer/Polymer Composite Operations (QCF) is a qualification aimed at those individuals who work in the polymer processing sector in a variety of positions including technicians, operators, setters and supervisors. It provides learners with formal recognition of their competence. Through the choice of two pathways, the qualification covers the competence and knowledge required for either machine-based or hand-based processes. This qualification covers health, safety and environmental requirements. Learners who take the hand-based pathway will cover how to prepare, produce and finish products in the context of hand-based operations by way of the pathway specific mandatory units. Similarly, those who take the machine-based pathway will cover how to prepare, maintain and shutdown machine-based processing operations by way of pathway specific mandatory units. With one exception, both pathways feature the same range of optional units. These include product inspection, picking, ancillary systems, sampling, testing, storage, supply, assembly and the ability to forge effective working relationships throughout. Objectives: meeting relevant programmes of learning and supporting a role in the workplace.

This qualification is the combined component of the Intermediate Level Apprenticeship – Polymer Processing.

Progression

Learners who have already achieved the Level 1 Certificate in Polymer Operations (QCF) can use credits, already gained, towards this qualification, as there is an overlap of units.

Learners can progress to the Level 3 Diploma in Polymer/Polymer Composite Operations (QCF) using credits achieved in this qualification, as there is an overlap of units.

This qualification is the combined component of the Intermediate Level Apprenticeship – Polymer Processing.
