About this Qualification

The IQ Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (QCF) is a competence based qualification aimed at individuals who work as assessors of vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in the context of workshops, classrooms and other training situations and of occupational competence in the work environments. It is relevant to a range of assessment methods, including but not limited to coursework, tests and simulations. It provides recognition of the learners’ understanding of the principles and practices of assessment, their ability to assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding and occupational competence in a variety of sectors. Objectives of the qualification include: preparing learners to progress to a qualification in the same subject area but at a higher level or requiring more specific knowledge, skills and understanding, meeting relevant programmes of learning and supporting a role in the workplace.

Progression

Learners who have already achieved the IQ Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement (QCF) can use credits gained towards this qualification as it features two common units, while those who have achieved the IQ Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment (QCF) can use credits achieved from the single common unit.

Learners who have achieved this qualification can progress to a variety of level 4 internal/ external quality assurance qualifications; while they do not feature a direct overlap of units or credits, these qualifications will build upon the learner’s knowledge and competence of the assessor sector.
