Qualification Purpose

About this Qualification

The IQ Level 2 Certificate in Providing Security Services (QCF) is a qualification for individuals who work in the private security industry. There are four pathways for the learner to select from: three specific pathways (Static and Patrol Guarding, Door Supervision and CCTV Operation) and a general pathway. Learners should select the one that is most appropriate for them. This qualification is competence based and the units are based on Skills for Security NOS for Security and Loss Prevention.

Structure

Candidates must achieve a minimum of 22 credits to gain certification.

Candidates must achieve 9 credits from the four mandatory units and the remainder from the mandatory and optional units from their chosen pathway.

Static and Patrol Guarding Pathway

Group A mandatory units: 4 units (9 credits)

Group B mandatory units: 3 units (7 credits)

Group B optional units: 6 credits

Door Supervision Pathway

Group A mandatory units: 4 units (9 credits)

Group B mandatory units: 4 units (9 credits)

Group B optional units: 4 credits

CCTV Operation Pathway

Group A mandatory units: 4 units (9 credits)

Group B mandatory units: 3 units (8 credits)

Group B optional units: 5 credits

General Pathway

Assessment

Assessment is by portfolio. Providing Security Services is a competence based qualifications and assessment must demonstrate the candidate’s consistent performance in the workplace. Unit specific assessment guidance is available at the end of each unit. Assessment must comply with Skills for Security’s Assessment Strategy located at the end of this document.

A Qualification Achievement Record for this qualification which includes the forms necessary to map and claim competence is available to download from the IQ website.

Learner Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements. However, learners should be able to work at level 1 or above and be proficient in the use of English Language.

Tutor Requirements

All trainers delivering this qualification must meet the requirements set in the assessment strategy located at the end of this document.

Centre Requirements

When registering learners for this qualification please ensure that learners are registered on the correct pathway.
