The IQ Level 4 Certificate in Fire Safety (Fire Auditors) (QCF) is a qualification for individuals who a newly working or intend to work as fire auditors. Those learners who have already achieved the Level 3 Certificate in Fire Safety (Fire Auditors) (QCF) can use credits already gained towards this qualification, as there is an overlap of units. It provides learners with formal recognition of their competence to work as a regulatory fire safety auditor.
All learners will complete the mandatory units, which address protection measures and reviews, risks, safety measures, systems and visits in the context of complex premises. Complex premises are defined as those buildings three or more stories high, typically including but not limited to shopping mauls, tower blocks and factories. Objectives of the qualification include: preparing Learners to progress to a qualification in the same subject area but at a higher level or requiring more specific knowledge, skills and understanding, preparing them to progress to a qualification in another subject area, meeting relevant programmes of learning and preparing for employment.
Learners can progress to the IQ Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety (Fire Inspectors) (QCF) using credits already gained towards the qualification. Learners will be able to ensure the suitability of fire safety arrangements within complex premises.
To achieve the qualification learners must complete all the units totalling 23 credits.
Assessment for this qualification is by portfolio.
There are no formal entry requirements. However, learners should be able to work at level 2 or above and be proficient in the use of English Language.
All trainers/assessors and internal verifiers delivering this qualification must meet the requirements as per the Skills for Justice Assessment Strategy for Justice and Community Safety Sector October 2010. See Appendix A at the end of this document.
