About this Qualification

The IQ Level 2 Award in Security Guarding (QCF) is a qualification for individuals who work or would like to work as a Security Guard. It is based on the SIA Specification for Learning and Qualifications in Security Guarding and successful completion of the qualification enables learners to apply for an SIA licence in Security Guarding.

Assessment must be carried out under exam conditions and a full SIA identification check must be completed. Please see the IQ Centre Guidance for Security Qualifications available from the IQ website for details of examination requirements and how to book an assessment. The List of SIA acceptable forms of identification is included at the end of this specification.

Learner Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements. However, learners should be able to work at level 1 or above and be proficient in the use of the English Language.

Tutor Requirements

All trainers delivering this qualification must have:

  • Appropriate teaching qualification, e.g. PTLLS
  • NQF or QCF Level 3 qualification in the delivery of conflict management training
  • Three years frontline operational experience in the last ten, relevant to the area that they are training
  • Continuous Professional development
