Qualification Purpose
About this Qualification
The IQ Level 3 Award in Clinical Skills: Venepuncture (QCF) is designed for registered nurses and non-registered practitioners to train them to carry out venepuncture in a variety of health care settings.
Learners will gain an understanding of the relevant theory, practical and professional requirements and gain experience of carrying out venepuncture under supervision in order to become competent. The main objective is to support a role in the workplace. The qualification could lead to more specialised roles within the learner's current job role and support them to work towards promotion. Another objective could be preparing learners to progress to a qualification in the same subject area but at a higher level or requiring more specific knowledge, skills and understanding
Progression
Learners can progress to, for example,
IQ Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) for England (QCF)
Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) for Wales and Northern Ireland (QCF)
Level 3 Diploma in Clinical Healthcare Support (QCF)
Level 3 Award/ Certificate/Diploma in Healthcare Support (QCF)
Level 3 Diploma in Maternity and Paediatric Support (QCF)
In each case credit transfer is possible.
