The IQ Level 3 Certificate in Fire Safety (Fire Auditors) (QCF) is a qualification for individuals who work as fire auditors ensuring the suitability of fire safety arrangement within simple premises. It provides learners with formal recognition of their competence to work as a regulatory fire safety auditor of simple premises. All learners will cover the fundamentals of fire auditing by way of mandatory units, which address potential hazards, evidence gathering, risk assessments, protection measures, systems and visits in the context of simple premises. Simple premises are defined as those buildings up to a maximum of two stories, typically including but not limited to small offices, small GP surgeries and small industrial units. Objectives of the qualification include: preparing Learners to progress to a qualification in the same subject area but at a higher level or requiring more specific knowledge, skills and understanding, meeting relevant programmes of learning and supporting a role in the workplace.
Learners can progress to the Level 4 Certificate in Fire Safety (Fire Auditors) (QCF) using credits already achieved as there is an overlap of units.
To achieve the qualification learners must complete all the units totalling 26 credits.
Assessment for this qualification is by portfolio.
There are no formal entry requirements. However, learners should be able to work at level 2 or above and be proficient in the use of English Language.
All trainers/assessors and internal verifiers delivering this qualification must meet the requirements as per the Skills for Justice Assessment Strategy for Justice and Community Safety Sector October 2010. See Appendix A at the end of this document.
