The IQ Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering has been developed to provide those who work in the catering industry with knowledge of basic food safety, to meet the legal basic food training requirements and to improve the level of food safety in the industry.
Under UK legislation everyone who handles food as part of their job must be provided with suitable training relevant to their work activities. This qualification covers an understanding of: how individuals can take personal responsibility for food safety (which includes an introduction to the legal responsibilities of food handlers and food business operators), the importance of keeping him/herself clean and hygienic, the importance of keeping the work areas clean and hygienic and the importance of keeping food safe.
