Qualification Purpose
About this Qualification
The IQ Level 2 Award in Moving People Safely (QCF) is a knowledge and competence based qualification for individuals who work or intend to work in positions involving the movement of people. It provides learners with formal recognition of their knowledge and competence. By completing both of the mandatory units, all learners will cover the principles of moving people safely, manual handling safety and how to apply those principles. Objectives of the qualification include preparing learners to progress to a qualification in the same subject area but at a higher level or requiring more specific knowledge, skills and understanding, meeting relevant programmes of learning, preparing learners for employment and supporting a role in the workplace.
Progression
Learners who have achieved the Level 2 Award in Moving People Safely (QCF) can progress to this qualification using credits already achieved, because the unit “Manual handling safety at work” is common to both of them. Upon completion of this qualification, learners can progress to a range of qualifications using credits already achieved, including:
The Level 2 Award/ Certificate/ Diploma in Personal Development for Employability (QCF)
The Level 2 Award in Principles and Practices of Manual Handling (QCF)
The Level 2 Award in Occupational Health and Safety (QCF)
The Level 2 Certificate in Health and Safety in the Workplace (QCF)

Structure
To achieve this qualification learners have to achieve 4 credits from both of the mandatory units.
Assessment
Assessment for the each of the units in this qualification is by multiple choice examination for the knowledge-based learning outcomes and portfolio (internally set and marked and quality assured by IQ) for the competence-based learning outcome.
An Achievement Record for this qualification which includes the forms necessary to map and claim knowledge and competence is available to download from the IQ website. All assessment criteria must be met and mapped and the location of the evidence must be indicated in the achievement record.
This qualification is not graded, successful learners achieve a pass.
The multiple choice assessment for learning outcomes 1-3 of both of the mandatory units are available on line or paper based.

Learner Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements. However, learners should be able to work at level 1 or above and be proficient in the use of English Language. They must be physically capable of engaging in moving and handling activities, including moving people.
Tutor Requirements
All trainers/assessors and internal verifiers delivering this qualification must meet the requirements as per the Proskills QCF Assessment Strategy. See Appendix A, located at the end of this document.
Centre Requirements
Centres must be approved by IQ in order to offer this qualification.
