About this Qualification
Important Notice
This qualification has been replaced by the IQ Award for Working as a Door Supervisor within the Private Security Industry (Scotland) at SCQF Level 6 on the 1st February 2015.
This qualification expired on the 31/01/2015, certification end date is 31/3/2015.
Centres that are already approved to offer this qualification will be automatically approved to offer the new equivalent qualification (as long as centres meet all requirements).
Last date for registrations on this qualification is the 31/01/2015.
Certification end date: Learners who are registered on or before the 31/01/15 will have until the 31/3/15 to complete the qualification.

The IQ Award in Door Supervision (Scotland) is a qualification for individuals who work or would like to work as a Door Supervisor in Scotland. It is based on the SIA Specification for Learning and Qualifications for Door Supervisors and successful completion of the qualification enables learners to apply for an SIA licence in Door Supervision.

Assessment
Knowledge: Assessments for unit 1, 2, 3 and the knowledge element of unit 4 is by multiple choice exam. Assessment must be carried out under exam conditions and a full SIA Identification check must be completed. Please see the IQ Centre Guidance for Security Qualifications available from the IQ website for details of examination requirements and how to book an assessment. The List of SIA acceptable forms of identification is included at the end of this specification.
Demonstration of practical skills: This element is internally assessed by the centre and quality assured by IQ. Please see the guidance on delivery and assessment at the end of the unit. A learner observation assessment record is available at the end of this document.

Learner Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements. However, learners should be able to work at SCQF level 5 or above and be proficient in the use of English Language
Tutor Requirements
All trainers delivering this qualification must have
- Appropriate teaching qualification e.g. PTLLS
- NQF or QCF Level 3 qualification in the delivery of conflict management training
- Three years frontline operational experience in the last ten, relevant to the area that they are training
- Continuous Professional development
- Valid certificate from an approved training programme (as listed on SIA website) in the Delivery of Physical Intervention
- Level 3 Award for Deliverers of Physical Intervention Training in the Private Security Industry
Centre Requirements
Centre requirements include insurance requirements, licence agreement with approved training programme provider listed on SIA website, facilities requirements etc. For full details please see “IQ Centre Guide for Security Qualifications/ Centre Requirements for delivering SIA licensed linked qualifications” available from website.
Approved Training Programmes for unit 4: Physical Intervention Skills for the Private Security Industry
Centres must only use an approved training programme to deliver this unit. A list of all approved programmes is available form the SIA website: http://www.sia.homeoffice.gov.uk/Pages/training-trainer-training.aspx
Please note that evidence of a valid licence agreement must be presented to IQ before approval to deliver this qualification will be granted; and that the licence agreement must be for the same programme as the trainer’s certificate. Any centre wishing to develop its own programme should contact enquiries.
