Shield 1st Again

The Shield Guarding Company has achieved yet another 1st by becoming the first security company to become a member of IQ, the new mutual awarding organisation operating in the sector. Shield joins SAFE as an early member of IQ, and will play a role in supporting the development of IQ license linked qualifications.

Stuart Kedward, Operations & HR Director at Shield said, “We are delighted to be involved at the beginning of such an exciting initiative. Shield has been tracking the development of IQ for many months and we are hugely encouraged by the focus on quality and provision of value within a mutual environment. The determination of the IQ team to create a premier awarding brand is precisely the type of initiative with which high quality providers are pleased to be associated.”

In advance of the launch of IQ license linked awards, Shield has adopted the IQ Level 3 Security Supervision Award, with the first candidates completing the programme in June.

Raymond Clarke, Chief Executive of IQ said, “We are very pleased to have an organisation of the stature of Shield working as a launch partner of IQ. Stuart has also agreed to become a member of the interim board, and we know that he will make a significant contribution to the development of IQ.”

IQ expect to launch SIA licence linked awards for security guarding, door supervision and CCTV operation in August, along with SIA approved qualifications for trainers and the replacement for the providing security services NVQ.
